How this collection builds your Spanish
These 30 stories are built in a specific order. Each one introduces new vocabulary and grammar patterns through the narrative and every story builds on what you learned in the ones before it.
Each story also includes flashcards and multiple challenges that build all four language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking, plus a cultural section to deepen your connection with Spanish-speaking cultures.
The collection is split into four phases and each phase has a clear purpose.
We recommend going through the stories in order since they build on each other, but feel free to explore however works best for you.
Your 30-story roadmap
Phase 1: Foundation (Stories 1–10)
Every building has a foundation. This is yours.
These first ten stories give you the core verbs and structures that hold Spanish together. You'll learn how to say who you are, what you have, where things are and where you're going. Nothing fancy, nothing obscure. Just the pieces you'll use in every single Spanish conversation for the rest of your life.
By the end of Phase 1, you'll be able to introduce yourself, ask basic questions, describe places and people and handle simple everyday situations. That's not a small thing. That's a real start.
- De Caracas a Madrid: SER (identity and introductions)
- El Perfil Perfecto: AR regular verbs
- El consejo de Juan: TENER (possession, age, expressions)
- No Más Preguntas: Question formation
- ¿Dónde Está Gustavo?: ESTAR (location and temporary states)
- Todo es Bonito: Articles and gender/number agreement
- El Billete de Lorenzo: Numbers 0–100 and beyond
- ¿Este es tu carrito?: ER/IR regular verbs
- ¿Adónde vamos, mamá?: IR (movement and going to places)
- Luna, Duna y Mala Fortuna: HAY (there is / there are)
Phase 2: Functional Communication (Stories 11–20)
You have the basics. Now you start actually doing things with them.
Phase 2 is where Spanish stops being something you recognize and starts being something you use. You'll learn to talk about your daily routine, express what you want, what you can do and what you're going to do. You'll say what you like, what you need and what belongs to you.
This is the phase where most learners feel the shift. Sentences start forming faster. Patterns start making sense without effort. You're not translating anymore. You're starting to think.
- Decir sí a la vida: Reflexive verbs
- ¿Cuál es tu apellido?: Possessive adjectives
- Doce uvas y un anillo: QUERER + infinitive
- Ocho euros y mil sonrisas: PODER + infinitive
- Mañana, mañana, mañana: IR A + infinitive (near future)
- ¿Qué pasa, Cristóbal?: SER vs ESTAR
- ¿Qué le gusta a este chico?: GUSTAR (likes and dislikes)
- El mentiroso perfecto: TENER QUE + infinitive
- Los consejos de los expertos: DEBER + infinitive
- El anillo perfecto: Demonstratives
Phase 3: Complex Usage (Stories 21–27)
Here's where your Spanish starts to sound like Spanish!
You can already communicate the essentials. Phase 3 adds the details that make you sound like someone who actually speaks the language. You'll describe people with precision, compare things, talk about what hurts, distinguish between knowing a fact and knowing a person and give commands (politely and not so politely).
These are the tools that separate someone reading from a textbook from someone having a conversation.
- El cumpleaños de Leo: Adjective agreement
- ¿Valladolid o Tenerife?: Comparatives
- Un enfermo en Ibiza: DOLER (pain and symptoms)
- Veinte años después: SABER vs CONOCER
- Vacaciones, amor y silencio: Time expressions
- La mejor mamá del mundo: Informal imperatives (tú)
- El mejor regalo: Formal imperatives (usted)
Phase 4: Mastery & Integration (Stories 28–30)
This is where everything comes together.
The final three stories don't introduce much new grammar. They don't need to. Instead, they challenge you to use everything you've learned across the entire collection. You'll connect ideas, express opinions, agree, disagree and build complex thoughts from simple pieces.
- Flores y churros con chocolate: Connectors
- ¿Adoptamos a un perro?: Opinion expressions
- Una nueva vida en Madrid: Complete A1 synthesis
